Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MaxHear (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the App on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). MaxHear is a live hearing amplifier that boosts ambient sound through your headphones. By using the App you agree to this Policy.
1. Microphone and audio — not recorded, not stored, not sent
MaxHear uses your device’s microphone only to amplify surrounding sound in real time and play it back into your connected headphones. Audio is processed locally on your device and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted to us or any third party. We have no access to what your microphone hears.
2. Camera
The camera is used only to scan a QR code when you redeem a gift or family-sharing code. Images from the camera are processed on your device and are not stored or transmitted.
3. Information we collect
We do not require an account and do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or photos. To keep the App working, improve it, diagnose problems, and measure our marketing, the App and the following third‑party services collect limited data:
- Google Firebase Analytics — app usage and interaction events (for example, which screens are opened), device identifiers, and an approximate location (region/country derived from your IP address), to understand how the App is used.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — crash logs and diagnostic data (for example, device model, OS version, and technical crash reports) so we can fix bugs.
- AppsFlyer (mobile measurement / attribution) — device and advertising identifiers, an approximate location (region/country from your IP address), and app install and in‑app purchase events. This lets us measure which advertising campaign or channel led you to install the App and whether our marketing is effective. Learn more at AppsFlyer’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase Firestore — used only for the gift / family‑sharing feature. When you redeem a shared subscription, a device identifier is stored to enforce the limit on the number of devices per subscription.
- Google Play Billing (Android) / Apple App Store (iOS) — your purchase and subscription status, so the App can unlock premium features.
4. How we use and share data
We use the data above to: provide and operate the App, understand and improve usage, diagnose crashes, and measure the performance of our advertising and marketing (attribution). We do not sell your personal data.
Certain data — such as your advertising/device identifier, approximate region, and install or purchase events — is shared with our attribution provider (AppsFlyer) and, where relevant, with the advertising network that referred you to the App, solely to attribute installs and measure campaign performance. Firebase services process data on our behalf as described above.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Subscriptions are processed by the app store for your platform: Apple on iOS (see Apple’s Privacy Policy) and Google Play on Android (see Google’s Privacy Policy). We do not receive or store your payment card details.
6. Your hearing settings
Your hearing‑test results and equalizer settings are stored locally on your device only. They are not uploaded to us.
7. Children
MaxHear is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Data retention and deletion
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes described in Section 3. In practice: Firebase Analytics event data is retained for up to 14 months, Google’s standard default window for this type of data; Crashlytics and AppsFlyer retain data on their own standard schedules, described in Firebase’s privacy and security documentation and AppsFlyer’s Privacy Policy. You can stop all further data collection at any time by uninstalling the App. To request deletion of data associated with your device, email support@maxhear.app and we will process your request.
9. Your privacy rights (EU/UK/EEA — GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction or deletion of it; restrict or object to certain processing; request a copy of it in a portable format; and, where processing is based on consent, withdraw that consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email support@maxhear.app. We rely on the following legal bases: our legitimate interests in keeping the App working, secure and improving it (Analytics, Crashlytics); your consent, where a platform requires it before advertising identifiers are collected (for example, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS) for AppsFlyer attribution; and performance of a contract with you for subscriptions and the gift/family‑sharing feature. Some of the service providers listed in Section 3 may process data outside the EEA/UK; each relies on its own safeguards for such transfers (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses) — see their respective privacy policies linked in Sections 3 and 8. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
10. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. Sharing device and advertising identifiers with our attribution provider (AppsFlyer) and advertising networks for campaign measurement, as described in Sections 3 and 4, may qualify as “sharing” for cross‑context behavioral advertising under this definition. To exercise any of these rights or to opt out, email support@maxhear.app with the subject line “California Privacy Request,” and we will process it without charge and without discriminating against you for exercising these rights.
11. Not a medical device
MaxHear is a general‑purpose hearing amplifier for everyday listening. It is not a hearing aid and is not a medical device intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
